Free Or Paid Marketing?
I’ll be the first to raise my hand and say this – I used to think that it was cool to JUST do free marketing. I mean, it is pretty cool to say that you replaced your family’s income in 30 days using only free marketing methods BUT….man, I spent A LOT of time away from my gorgeous daughter and hubby writing articles, doing free social media marketing, blogging etc. It was hard graft.
Don’t get me wrong, free marketing is a great skill to have and it means that you can build your business and get the ball rolling for very little (the cost of a blog and an article submitter for example).
BUT once you start to make money, the BEST thing you can do with it is put it back in to your business either by investing in training (yes there’s lots of free stuff but you get right to the nitty-gritty good stuff when you PAY for your training), paying for mentoring/coaching sessions, buying tools for your business AND paying for marketing.
I know…I just KNOW….that some of you are thinking, pffft! “She can say this cause she has money”, or “paid advertising is too risky”…or a load of other objections. How do I know a lot of you are thinking this?
Because I used to think it too.
Then I heard someone say this.
“If you can spend $1 to make $2, you’re in the money”
You can start out with $2 a day – that’s only $60 a month. That’s how I started out. I spent about $50 on Facebook PPC to see which ads worked, then I decided on an amount that I could spend daily and upped it over time.
Not only that but paid marketing (especially the kind I’m about to show you) can take about an hour, to generate you HUNDREDS of leads. And you can break even so that you get your money back, and are ready to play again!
How many of you have paid hundreds for tools and services designed to help you get your “FREE” marketing done in less time, or out to more sources?
It’s all money out. There’s nothing wrong with free marketing, but it shouldn’t be this die-hard thing we make it out to be…there’s no ‘right’ way to grow your business. It’s not unethical to do paid marketing, although it seems there is quite a debate online about free vs paid. The fact is, paid marketing WORKS and it doesn’t have to be any more risky than buying a tool to help you with your free marketing.
When I realised this it shifted my business SO much. I could spend less time working, get BIGGER results and of course, bigger profits.
With paid advertising you can track far more efficiently exactly what you need to achieve in order to break even or make a profit.
