I’m about to show you the 5 steps you can take to dramatically increase blog traffic… overnight.  Follow them completely and you can expect to get more blog traffic within 48 hours of completing these steps.

Increase Blog Traffic – Step #1: Get The Right Tools

Firstly, if you are not monitoring your blog traffic, you need to search for Google analytics and install it on your blog. It will show you how much traffic you are getting and where your traffic is coming from. It is also useful for seeing which keywords are bringing people to your site.

The next tool I recommend on your blog is something called “All in one SEO pack”. Simply go to plugins in wordpress, add new and search for it and install. Be sure to then fill out the settings (in the left hand side menu in wordpress, way down the bottom) with the keywords that you want your blog to be found for.

You should also install the plugins called Onlywire & DiggDigg which will allow people to share your content directly from your blog (see the buttons at the top and bottom of this post?). Again, configure these so they appear on your blog the way you want them too.

These are the absolute minimum plugins you need to start to increase traffic to your blog. There are many other plugins I recommend when first making a blog but these are the ones you will need for the steps that follow.

Increase Blog Traffic- Step #2: Plan & Write Your Content

So many people write their content, THEN try to figure out how to get traffic to their blog. The truth is, a well planned blog post can get you traffic immediately and get you found in the search engines a lot faster.

For example, last night I released a blog post on “Increasing Facebook Fans” and within 10 minutes it was on the front page of google for a search term that has 2.5 Million results. Take the time to plan your keywords, write an eye-catching title and give true value to your readers and it will increase your site traffic quickly.

Increase Blog Traffic- Step #3: Syndication

The next step is to get the link to your content out for the world to see. This is easily achieved and the results are awesome. I personally LOVE using syndication tribes to get my content on places like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg etc. The reason that tribes are so powerful is that your content is being shared by lots of other people on lots of other sites. This shows google and other search engines that your content is good, because people are sharing it. For example, look  at how many times my content from yesterday was shared -

That’s 236 links back to my one blog post in a few hours from high ranking sites like twitter and Facebook. If you don’t have any back links to your blog it’s very hard for search engines, and indeed PEOPLE, to find your blog posts.
