Some of you may not know this, but I’m married to an American guy (his name is Duncan Macgregor and he’s ginger – his drivers license looks more Scottish than mine!) so tonight we’re off to have thanksgiving dinner with some friends from Puerto Rico.

Before I go out I wanted to let you know of a simple little thing I do without thinking now, but that has brought in great results for me in my business.

I like to call it the Love Note Trail.

It’s pretty simple but SO many people don’t even realise how powerful this is.

I’ve used this method to get free passes to training courses, invites to webinars, featured posts on others blogs, interviews, as well as COUNTLESS new connections, leads and buyers/team members.

It’s really simple.

Wherever you are, stop and let people know you were there.

Did you ever carve your initials into a tree when you were younger? I remember writing “RR Woz Ere 99″ (CRINGE!)

In fact I’m sure I wrote it on friends schoolbags, even desks (ssshh, don’t tell!).

It was the ‘in’ thing to do cause it showed people that you were hanging out in certain places, with certain people etc.

Now, I don’t suggest you use the term WOZ ERE in your marketing (it’s embarrassing enough just writing it on my blog now!) but what you should do is adopt the same attitude online.

Wherever you are online, let people know you were there by leaving a little love note.

Comment on their Facebook posts.

Comment on their blog posts (quick note, I just installed CommentLuv so that you get a backlink every time you comment on my blog!).

Like stuff, tweet it (if you include their username like this @remacgregor in your post, they will see that you have shared it), vote for it.

Email them back a little Thank You note when you get their email broadcasts.

Reply to the comments you get on your site.

Thank people for Retweeting your stuff.

Stop by their fanpage after watching their video and thank them.

It doesn’t matter who they are – whether they are “bigger” than you online, or just starting out, show them that you read their message, blog post or whatever it is.

ALL this stuff adds up and gets YOU noticed.

You’d be surprised what can come out of a simple message.

Others will see that, pick up on your good vibe and start checking you out. You should NEVER self promote in these messages. Always leave people curious and make sure your profile has a way they can find out more about you and go to your website.

And best of all it just FEELS GOOD to leave nice notes everywhere you go.
